mx::project two final

This portfolio page is intended as a timeline of sorts. The portfolio has been broken down into several years. When the user clicks on different years, it moves them back and forth over the timeline itself.
I made my site's navigation very minimal, with different colors to designate different years or parts of the portfolio. The clickable thumbnails are points on the timeline, which allows for the different works to be arranged in chronological order.
The part I struggled most with was perhaps the Actionscripting. Well, until TweenLite came into my life. Thank you, Greensock.

I think your site has a really dynamic feel to it because of your cinematic transitions and incorporation of graphic way finding/feedback. I think that having your navigation horizontal and your portfolio navigation come on vertically is a subtle, yet well thought out differentiation. That being said, I was a little confused on the navigation of the project images. I wasn't sure at first if your thumbnails on the bottom were different projects or different pics of the same project. If they are separate projects, I want to know how you will incorporate multiple images of the same project.

Is your homepage going to offer any information other than saying it is a homepage with links to contact and about pages? Have you thought about condensing some of this information and relying on a more intuitive way to navigate to those pages? (IE, homepage could contain some about info while you could click on your name in the corner for contact info.) Just a thought.

I dislike your project information as a roll over that covers up the image. I want to view both simultaneously or cross reference them with minimal arm movement.

I admire the way that your site manipulates conventions (like scrollbars and highlights) to push them to their limit without making this a hard to use site.

I first just want to comment on your transitions. I think these are working really well right now and engages me around in clicking on more things. The home page has a good number of things to choose to click on making navigation pretty intuitive. As far as when your in the gallery view and switch to the next year I think it should land on the page with the first image already up unless there was some kind of description on the gray boxes. To me these seem to just flow in a linear path without next bars with the way there ordered. I also think the info and close icons are a tad big. I think viewing individual images is where I run into more unsettling experiences. I'm curious to why project are aligned at the bottom of the page and not under the years.. this might open space for a more dynamic viewing of the image.

I really like how your using color though. This really helps tie the category with the gallery. I can really see this allowing a unique way to incorporate your identity into this wireframe next semester as well.
