Good integration of text with icons. The simple approach to time/location is good.
Smaller map seems incidental. Integrate (layers, compositionally, etc) with the other. Labeling with a caption is fine, but need to also articulate the caption visually within the map inset. Indicate travel direction, etc.
Integrate dates into timeline. Currently all are being plotted in even spacing - but so much more can be revealed by a placement relative to time.
Explore other ways to visualize the connection between the timeline and the map. The diagonal black line, while simple and clear, is not engaging or content appropriate. Think about the visual language of dots you already established in your icon family. Deconstruct and use as a graphic device in your infographic. Patterning could be further explored (you started with the orange lines to differentiate the dynasties).
